Ban on Harvard

Last Friday, the Department of Homeland Security announced that the Trump Administration bans the university from admitting international students because they are involved in Incitement to violence and Anti-Semitism. Before that, Homeland Security issued an ultimatum to the university and requested them to disclose data of students involved in the above incidents in 72 hours. That is some students organized terrorism inside the campus and gave threats to Jewish students. The university also had co-operation with China for training program for XinJiang students. Harvard did not act accordingly, so the ban is issued.

Within 24 hours, the university filed a lawsuit in federal court of Boston. A federal judge has ordered a temporary restraining order blocking the Trump Administration from revoking Harvard University’s certification to enroll international students. The Homeland Security has the right to appeal to a higher court, but no further news heard yet, we still have to wait and see.

The argument of Federal Court is not on who’s right or wrong, but if they are not allow to recruit whatsoever kind of students, it should start the next year and should not affect the current students for they are all admitted legally. But now all international students are requested to change to other universities or else will be against the law. There is no such urgent need to carry out now, it is not war time or anything as urgent as that.

Mind that Harvard is just the first one, it is said that more will be coming including Pennsylvania University, Yale University and Columbia University. So there will be chain effect even on last Friday the impact on financial market is quite limited. For now people know that Trump is a crazy man so his crazy policies would not shock the market too much, but beware of that he may be even crazier than before.
