Ukraine Peace Talk

Today is the 1084th day of Ukrainian War. At first Putin scheduled to defeat Ukraine within 48 hours and establish a new government in 72 hours. Later Donald Trump in his election campaign said he could end the war within 24 hours. After Inauguration he said could end it within 100 days after he took office. Apparently, both of them could not meet with their expectation.

Why Putin started the special military action? He said that NATO was expanding and give threats to Russia. Actually, it was Ukraine wished to join the NATO because of the threat of Russia. All NATO members should have a national defense up to 2% of GDP, but they are cutting their expense and not expanding, most of them could not reach the target of 2%, and that’s why Donald Trump wished to withdraw from NATO and asked them to increase the target to 5%. Now Finland and Sweden joined NATO and they really expanded because of the threat of the Ukrainian war.

Russia applied to join NATO 4 times but all failed, for new member must be passed by all existing members to meet with their requirement such as fighting against corruption and maintaining human rights or else would not fight for them when being attacked.

What Russia wants is to go back to the era of Czar again, Ukraine must surrender totally and cannot have any military force after the war and cannot join NATO, EU or other countries should not keep their force inside Ukraine and US must put aside all sanction and share the Ukraine minerals with Russia. Ukraine is very simple to keep all invaders away from their territories no matter since 2022 or 2014. Trump is more simple, money, money, money, how much money they can give to US.  EU is also simple, to keep military force in Ukraine as buffer zone, but regretfully, they are not on the conference desk to talk. The difference is so great and talking will be a long and hard path. Anyway talking is better than no talking.
