The host of G20 in 2025 is South Africa, Putin cannot attend because of the arrest warrant by International Criminal Court for he is condemned as war criminal, and he can only send a representative as in the BRICS meeting and the Pope’s funeral. The summit will be held from Nov 22-25 in Johannesburg where all presidents and prime ministers of member countries will turn up. But they are very busy so they need a lot of minstrel meetings before that so as to narrow the scope discussion and let leaders can make final decision easily.
Minstrel meetings includes Finance, Diplomat, Energy, Education……etc, but this is an era where economy takes the lead. So there are 5 meetings on Financial Minister this year and others only once. On April 23-24, the second meeting of this year is held in Washington DC as a side meeting of the Spring Meeting of IMF and World Bank. There are 2 annual meetings of IMF and World Bank every year, IMF is the host on Spring meeting and World Bank is the host for Autumn meeting. All members including the EU will attend these two meetings to discuss the global economy including China and US will talk publicly during the meeting.
A lot of member countries will take chance to have individual side meetings. The grand meeting starts at 9:00am on April 23 (Wed), Korean and US ministers took chance to have a breakfast meeting in the Treasury Building which is located immediately on the east side of White House, the nearest cabin building to the president. The IMF is located at northwest which is at the back of White House, 700 meters away.

On Friday afternoon, Trump said that he had already got the phone call from President Xi but also no further details. China reconfirmed on Saturday that Xi had not phone Trump and no talking on tariff and economy. Chinese Finance Minster only confirmed side meetings with South Africa, EU, Pakistan, Germany, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and UK.
So it become the Incident of Rashomon (らしょうもん), but already made US stocks jumped up.
